About

Background

This community project was completed by Karaitiana Taiuru as a koha to empower the whānau whānui of Ngāi Tahu and manuhiri who visit our marae, especially the kaikōrero and kaikaranga. The project originated as a partial requirement of the Master of Māori and Indigenous Leadership at Canterbury University.

Each pepeha has been provided to the rūnanga it originates from. In the same correspondence, is seeking amendments, updates and inclusions. Because of this process, this is the most authoritative resource available to learn your pepeha.

Kei te mihii ki a Karuna Thurlow mō tō awhina. For proof reading and adding macrons to the first 53 whakatauakī and amending non Kāi Tahu whakataukī.
